Mini Weather Station Project – Class 6

🌦️ Mini Weather Station Project – Class 6

🎯 Objective

To build a basic weather station that tracks temperature, rainfall, wind direction, and cloud cover using simple materials.

🧰 Materials Needed

Component Purpose Materials
Thermometer Measure temperature Store-bought or DIY with alcohol
Rain Gauge Measure rainfall Plastic bottle, ruler, marker
Wind Vane Show wind direction Straw, pin, cardboard, compass
Cloud Chart Identify cloud types Printed cloud type chart
Notebook Record daily observations Any ruled notebook

🛠️ How to Build

  1. Rain Gauge: Cut the top off a plastic bottle, invert it as a funnel, mark measurements on the side, and place it outside.
  2. Wind Vane: Cut an arrow from cardboard, attach to a straw with a pin, mount on a pencil eraser, and mark N/S/E/W using a compass.
  3. Cloud Chart: Print or draw pictures of common clouds (cumulus, stratus, cirrus) and use it to identify clouds daily.
  4. Thermometer: Use a store-bought one or make a simple alcohol thermometer with adult supervision.

📊 Observation Table

Date Temperature Rainfall (cm) Wind Direction Cloud Type
Oct 26 28°C 0.5 East Cumulus
